In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Excellent location near beach and centre — Two minutes from the sea, a five-minute walk to La Caleta beach, and about 20 minutes on foot to the city centre. A bus stop is right outside, with several lines to the centre and Gibralfaro.
  • Friendly and helpful staff — Guests consistently note the warm, courteous reception team, who offer local tips, arrange taxis, and even upgrade rooms when available.
  • Sea views from many rooms — Upper floors and some balconies offer views of the Mediterranean – guests describe the terrace and balconies as lovely, with some rooms upgraded to sea view.
  • Clean and comfortable rooms — Rooms are described as spotless, well-maintained, and comfortable, with air conditioning, coffee machines, and some with balconies or terraces.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Breakfast is decent but not outstanding — While the buffet is praised by some for its variety, a few guests found it merely okay.
  • Street noise can be an issue — The hotel is on a main avenue with round-the-clock traffic, and some guests mention noise from cars passing by.
  • Parking is available but may be tight or paid — On-site private parking exists, but some guests opt for free or cheaper street parking instead, suggesting the hotel's parking may be limited or pricey.
  • Value rating is lower than other categories — While the overall rating is 8.1 and guests generally find the price fair, the Value category scores 7.8 – the joint lowest with General – indicating some feel the price could be more competitive.

“We stayed three nights at the end of November 2019. The hotel is not large or new, but it's very well maintained and pleasant. Excellent location, second line from the beach – 5 minutes on foot – and about 20–25 minutes to the city centre and Picasso museum. We walked several times, taking different routes along the waterfront and through the city; always something to see. From our room on the 3rd floor you couldn't see the sea, but upper floors have views. Breakfast is very good, a buffet with great choice. Staff is very helpful. Comfortable beds, and Wi-Fi worked well throughout the hotel. In the evening there was always street parking along the road – daytime parking is inexpensive, 1 euro/hour, and free from 20:00 to 09:00 and at weekends, so we never used the underground parking. The bus stop is 100 metres away and can take you to the centre or Gibralfaro fortress (we missed it – arrived at closing time). Overall, the stay left exceptionally positive emotions, would stop here again, and I believe the price matches the quality, even though we as travellers always prefer cheaper.”

“We loved the terrace with sea views. The location is fantastic, close to the beach and the city. The hotel is on the second line of the beach, in front of La Caleta beach, next to La Malagueta beach. To reach the centre, there's a bus stop right at the door – if you prefer walking, it takes about 20 minutes along the Paseo Maritimo with nice views. Coffee and welcome water in the room, lemonade at reception. Friendly and nice staff – they arranged a taxi for our departure.”

“Nice room and bathroom, even a little terrace and minibar. Close to the beach and less than 4 euros by taxi to Plaza Merced.”

“I had a really great experience with the staff. They upgraded my standard room to a better one with a balcony and sea view at no extra charge. The room and bathroom were simple but completely fine for my stay, and breakfast was okay too. Malaga is beautiful!”

“It was nice to have a balcony and in-room TV. The bathroom was a good size and clean, and there was a metal blocking screen for the patio door that provided safety and good light blockage in the morning.”
